Knowledge Vain without Grace A man may know all about the rocks, and his heart remain as hard as they are; a man may know all about the winds, and be the sport of passions as fierce as they; a man may know all about the stars, and his fate be the meteor's that after a brief and brilliant career is quenched in eternal night; a man may know all about the sea, and his soul resemble its troubled waters which cannot rest; a man may know how to rule the spirits of the elements, yet know not how to rule his own; a man may know how to turn aside the flashing thunderbolt, but not the wrath of God from his own guilty heart: he may know all that Shakespeare knew—all that Einstein knew—all that all the greatest geniuses have known; he may know all mysteries and all knowledge; but if he does not know his Bible, what good will it bring him?

A friend of mine at work has a problem with colors. He will have something that has been painted a certain color and ask me if it this color or that. I think that through life people have chided him for being color blind and it had taken him a while to trust me that I would not lie to him about the color. Some people would make fun of him and tell him that it is a different color than what it is. I can see a lot of the world sometimes through my color blind friend’s eyes. It does not surprise me anymore when people who do not know God have trouble with absolute spiritual truths. The "eyes of their understanding" have never been opened.
It does not mean that I stop sharing my Lords message; I just know that perhaps in time the message of the Lord will find an opening to enter in. Just like my colorblind friend has taken some time to learn that I would not lie to him about colors it sometimes takes time for the seed that we sow to take root. Sometimes the seed will fall on good soil and sometimes it will not. I may not always be able to tell where the good soil is or where the weeds are waiting to choke off what I have sown. Still I have a unlimited supply of seed and a love of gardening. Even on the internet my planting continues on. Like my friend who can not see certain colors I plant many seeds where I do not know the results yet some how I know that the fruit of my labor is not what I can see but for the One I toil for.

Eccl 1:7 All the rivers run into the sea; yet the sea is not full; unto the place from whence the rivers come, thither they return again.

Ephes. 5:24-32
Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing. Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church: For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones. For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.

Of all the illustrations that we find in the scriptures one is more significant to most Christians than any other. In scripture we find the picture of the church being the bride if Christ. In the times we live it is easy to look at this with our own perspective and miss the so much of the entire picture. Like a fine painting if we go back and study it we can find details that at first glance we often miss. The same can be said about marriage and even the courtship process. When we read the scriptures we find that Jesus taught His disciples with parables based on marriage. Reading further we find reference in Paul’s letters of Christ as the Husband of the church. Like the fine painting after we look at the little details that make up all the different sections when we look at the whole picture we gain a whole new perspective. What we need to do is to look at what the Bible says through the eyes of the first disciples. When we do so we will also find the traditions of the ancient Jews fulfilled through Christ. We also find prophecy to come as well as fulfilled.

There is a need for us to understand this more than we first grasp. We can see glimpse of a plan and some of the details that are a part of it. Matthew 22:2 The kingdom of heaven is like unto a certain king, which made a marriage for his son. We come to know that God will fulfill every part of what He has begun. We can also see that after paying such a high price for his bride that He will come again and claim her.
